How do I add paid content items & fan subscriptions?

Sell content, products and memberships directly to fans at low fees with Fangage's paid content & subscriptions feature

Using our paid content feature, you can sell exclusive content, products, and memberships to your fans, directly through your Fangage platform.

You can offer fans individual paid content items that they can unlock with their credit card or memberships that unlock multiple paid content items at once.

Connecting your Stripe account

To process payments swiftly and securely, we partnered up with Stripe. So, as a first step, you'll need to connect your Stripe account to your Fangage website:

On the left menu tab, click on "Configuration", which will open a drop-down menu.
Click on the "Paid content" option to access the paid content settings.
Choose the currency in which you want to offer your content (either Euros or Dollars) and click on "Connect Stripe".
Create a new Stripe account or link your existing one. After filling out your details, you'll be redirected back to your Fangage dashboard.
Paid content & subscriptions are now enabled for your Fangage website.

Adding paid content items

After linking your Stripe account, you can start offering fans paid content items:

On the left menu tab, click on "Content".
Click on "Content items" to create a new paid content item or edit an existing content item.
Go through the usual steps of creating a content item by entering general information, indicating the content type/description, or choosing a cover image.
At the bottom, under "Paid content", you can enable the paid content functionality by clicking on "Yes". This will enable the "Price" and "Subscription" fields.
You can set the price of the content item to whatever you want (can be zero if you want to link it with a subscription - see more below). Once you set the price, click on "Create item" or "Update item" in case you're updating an existing content item.

Adding subscriptions

Apart from selling single content items that require a one-time payment, you can also offer fan memberships/subscriptions, which will charge your fans a recurring subscription fee:

On the left menu tab, click on "Configuration".
Click on the "Paid content" option to access the paid content settings.
Click the orange "Create subscription" box to create a new subscription.
Click on "Add price" and indicate a fee. You can choose payments to recur daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly.
Finally, click on "Create subscription" to save your settings.

Linking paid content items to a subscription

Now that you've created a subscription, it's time to link them to the content items that you want to offer as part of the subscription.

Please note that you can also offer several subscription plans. For example, you can create a basic subscription, which will grant your fans access to just a few content items and gradually move towards a premium subscription, which will grant access to the most exclusive content.

There are two ways in which you can link specific content items to a subscription plan.

First option:

After creating a subscription, click on "Content" on the left menu tab, and then on "Content items".
Create or edit an existing content item by filling out the details.
Under "Paid content", click on "Yes". This will activate the "Price" and "Subscription" fields.
Click on "Subscription" and choose which subscription plan you want to link your content item with. This way, only fans who are subscribed to the subscription plan you chose will be able to unlock the content item.

Second option:

After creating paid content items, click on "Configuration".
Access the paid content settings by clicking on "Paid content".
On the right side, you should be able to see your current subscription plans.
Click on the subscription plan you want to link your content items with.
At the bottom, you'll have the option to choose which content items you want to link with that specific subscription plan.
Click on "Save changes" to save your settings.
